Unhappy with Stacks? You Can Change That

Stacks. The Richardson Room. Generic Subway. Whatever you call the “restaurant” on the second floor of Hicks, you probably agree it’s not as functional as it could be. You might have placed a mobile order and walked all the way across campus only to find someone stole it off the shelf. You might have heard the number before yours called, then the number after yours, then the number after that, as if your sandwich got lost in a blizzard of receipt paper. And if you’re an upperclassman, you might miss talking to the employees instead of punching your order into a kiosk and waiting to hear your number called.

The good news is that you’re not the only one. And that means that, as students, we can change this. If you’re an upperclassman who reminisces about the times you could go to Stacks and know that you’ll get the food you’re paying for, or if you’re a freshman who’s wondered what it’s like to talk to the people who make your food every day, you should know there’s a way to share your concerns with the College.

You might have seen flyers around campus asking you to give feedback to the dining team. It’s easy to ignore these kinds of calls to action. Nobody wants to take time out of their day to fill out a form that you assume everyone else is also ignoring. So, if anything, let this article serve as a sign that someone else feels the same way you do, and they want change, too.

So, if you’ve ever thought, “there has to be a better way to do this,” let K know! Take a minute to fill out the form at survey.alchemer.com/s3/7373648/kalamazoo-virtual-comment-card. If enough of us voice our concerns, we can make Stacks better for everyone – students and staff.
